Sculptor, painter and musician Brett Todman draws his inspiration from nature and its ability to yield, adapt and thrive. His passion for raw and recycled materials ignites and morphs into works that hold a sense of history, like mystical symbols of a lost world or futuristic place. The sense of the subconscious permeates the artist’s works, with an undefined desire to express what Todman terms ‘the inner side’.
Todman’s artistic career spans some 30 years with both national and international exhibitions including 15 solo exhibitions and 18 group shows. He was the winner of the major prize at Castaways 2017. Todman also explores and works his organic sculptural forms into architectural pieces including houseboats and land pods, as well as furniture including hanging beds, floating tables and sound chambers. Todman is currently co-owner of the Lucky Goat Arts Factory, a key contributor to Voxlab arts hub for public art and engaged in creating installations and fulfilling private commissions.
