Gordon Mitchell

Gordon Mitchell is an artist, designer and sculptor.

He has a successful background in the visual arts: Graphic Design, Art education and Art practice. His multi-disciplinary practice is currently focussed on the design and creation of site specific sculpture.

He has exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe and Bondi as well as all five Sculpture at Bathers exhibitions in Fremantle.

Mitchell has been commissioned by private collectors as well as corporate and public authorities.

One of his most visible local commissions is the entry statement to the Bibbulmun Track Northern Terminus in Kalamunda.

Glass half full is inspired by the proverbial phrase – creating a light-hearted sculpture reflecting how we respond to our world in very uncertain times. The mirror elements capture the environment and the viewer using their images as part of the work which challenges our interpretation of what is real/physical and what is implied/temporary.
