Richie Kuhaupt

Richie Kuhaupt has been exhibiting nationally and internationally since 1994. This will be his third appearance with Sculpture at Bathers since 2017.

This year’s sculpture is a continuation of his exploration and presentation of the human form.

Kuhaupt has exhibited in many sculpture exhibitions including some 15 times with Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe, Bondi, Denmark, and Albany since 1998 and an exhibit at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra.

He has completed numerous public art commissions including Kooren in Kings Square, Perth in collaboration with Rod Garlett and Chaney Architects in 2017.

Inspired by dress patterns which allow 3D objects to be produced from 2D drawings, the artist has created this dress with scarf from a pattern and in steel sheet. The figure, while absent, can be envisaged looking out to sea, shielding her eyes from the sun.
