Artist Profile
Todd Israel and Nalda Searles
Todd Israel and Nalda Searles have collaborated discreetly from time to time over the years. S@B5 will be the first time they collaborate on a public artwork. Both are practicing fibre artists and have been exhibiting their works for some years.
Todd Israel has been a practising fibre artist since the mid nineties.
As both an artist and an elite athlete he straddles a delicate position.
The form of athleticism fascinates him and his long term intention is to fully explore the body dynamics of motion in various stages.
Nalda Searles is a senior Western Australian fibre textile artist with a history as a maker and a teacher spanning four decades. Her most recent exhibition held at Mundaring Art Centre attracted a large viewing audience and contained over fifty new and previous works. Nalda has since moved onto recycled clothing and object making.
She is represented in many collections and enjoys surprising people with new works.
