Britt Mikkelsen
Britt Mikkelsen graduated from Curtin University in Visual Arts in 1993. Passionate about nature, she explores humans’ influence on the world, creating sculptures inspired by natural subject matter to juxtapose beauty and discomfort. She exhibited at Sculpture at Bathers in 2022 and Sculpture by the Sea nine times, both in Cottesloe and Bondi. In 2018 she received the Helen Lempriere Scholarship for Emerging Artists, and in 2021 received the Mandorla Art Prize. Britt’s work is held in numerous public collections in Australia and around the world.

Britt Mikkelsen – Remedy
Remedy is part of a series exploring the human skeletal form. Recent health issues have been heavy on the artist’s mind and as such she strives to detail these in her work. In this artwork the human hip joint has been abstracted. The sculpture retains a sense of unease of the skeletal form whilst abstraction lends an air of beauty to the subject matter.
