Elaine Clocherty & Mick Hart
Clocherty and Hart have collaborated in several exhibitions over the past few years including Sculpture by the Bay, Emergences at Holmes a Court Gallery, Vasse Felix and Ancient Roots. During the last 25 years Clocherty’s interventions in the landscape and gallery context have been shown locally, nationally and internationally. A painter since 2002 Hart is also a multi-media sculptor using mechanics, leatherwork, engraving and found objects. Together they combine Clocherty’s love of natural materials with Hart’s love of metal to make site specific sculptures which tell stories of place whilst contemplating our human role as caretakers of this precious earth.

Elaine Clocherty & Mick Hart – Anchored
On Bathers Beach, 4 September 1829, the Marquis of Anglesea dragged her anchors and was wrecked. “Dragged anchors” is a sign of impending disaster, where “stronger external forces from wind/currents and poor holding ground cause a failure of the anchor to hold”. This artwork considers our ‘poor holding of ground’ through over production/consumption and the forces of climate change; asking us to reposition our attachments to the life systems that support us; to anchor us in what is truly important.
