Mandy Hawkhead
Mandy Hawkhead is a multidisciplinary artist, fascinated by our contemporary relationship with time. Her minimalist, multisensory artworks often draw on the affectual power of water, plus its ability to allude to temporal passage. Changes in state and the movement of elemental materials feature in Hawkhead’s immersive installations, that integrate sculpture, multi-screen projections, ceramics, photography and textiles. Her interest in phenomenology and empiricism has shaped an arts practice that is grounded in human experience and explores the time of our lives.

Mandy Hawkhead – Intonation
Local tides shape landscape and activity in Fremantle. Our Inner Harbour readings commenced in 1897 and are the longest continual record within the Indian Ocean basin. Intonation represents the 58 tidal highs and lows forecast over the duration of Sculpture at Bathers 2025 (4 -21 April). Like musical notes on a staff, the slender pipes depict an oceanic melody that engages with the waters of its making, and marks cyclic time by virtue of its existence.
