Mikaela Castledine – Ride
In her ongoing exploration into the strange relationships humans have with animals, Castledine is investigating notions of circus and spectacle, what draws us and what we find entertaining. Ride depicts an elephant both carrying and suspended by a Ferris wheel. It symbolises the weight we put on animals to be what we want them to be and their inability to shake free from our demands, our curiosity and our obsessive anthropomorphising of everything.
