The sun has now set on the third instalment of Sculpture at Bathers.
Over two weeks Bathers Beach and Kidogo Arthouse were awash with the very best in homegrown contemporary sculpture, an absolute treat for all of us.
Our 86 artists have put their hearts and souls into exhibiting this year, coming together as West Australian artists for a special opportunity to reflect, to be inspired and to share their creativity and their ideas with their community.
Encompassing public art, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, electronica, performance and ceremony, rarely can one experience sculpture like this – in the broadest of possible terms.
Beneath the relaxed wonderful expression of WA artworks are countless hours of curating, designing, funding applications, sponsorship negotiations, catalogue production, volunteer rostering and organising – not to mention the plinth painting, digging, sweating, lifting, and repairing (after little hands) – almost all done on volunteer power.
Without the contributions of volunteers, our patrons, host council, sponsors, donors and supporters we simply couldn’t have done it – so thank you, all of you.
And to everyone who has taken a stroll and enjoyed the works, thank you for making this all worthwhile.
